So the Government have roughly 13 days to respond to the Convention's submission on same sex marriage and equal rights for same sex families.

What are people expecting to happening here? Do we think the current Government will introduce a referendum? Or that the proposal will be considered but no definite date given.

I'm kind of wary that after the recent abortion bill, the Seanad referendum and elections next year, the Government will want to push anything that could jeopardize their voting base away from them.

    Any thoughts?

This exactly. I really don'y think that a same-sex marriage referendum is high (or ever was high) on Enda Kenny's priority list. There are reports that say it will be held next year, but I'll believe it when I'm ticking the box on my ballot slip.
