Forecast bad for next 4 or 5 days, have no stock in yet but probably could do with putting in the Bull and few of heaviest of cows to avoid poaching ground....
Would be going into open airy slatted shed,is it an old wives tale that you should never put in cattle on a wet day when naturally they are not dry.

Its recommended not to. We have done it some years, sometimes the weather breaks and stays broken. Just watch for pneumonia

    Perhaps a chance tomorrow?

Would prefer to go in dry if at all possible but then you are talking about cows so should be okay.

    Best wait though.

If they run in from the rain it must be better than standing out in it!

I wouldnt worry about it with cows or stores.

And with weanlings would only worry if going into a very stuffy shed which wouldn't be ideal anyway

I leave a shed open all the time and when the cows/calves get tired of being out in the rain they go in for a lie down! Has the added advantage of me just having to close a gate and they are caught!

Stock (dairy) have gone in both wet and dry over the years with no side effects. What about when rain blows in through space board/cladding over the winter or is that different? Did many cattle go in dry last year?

I took one look at the forecast early last week and put my lot in within 24 hrs. It was a lovely dry autumn up till then so with the current outlook it made sense.

Put my incalf heifers in today. They were dry enough going in. Still a bit warm though but to get cooler the end of next week i think.
