Have a Dreambox 800HD setup in the living room and want to stream live to another room in the house

Whats the best/most reliable way to do this? Another dreambox, Apple TV, etc?

    Thanks in Advance

The streaming on the 800 I can't remember if its very reliable some of the boxes are hit and miss, you may want to try streaming it to your phone / tablet / laptop first and if that works fine then maybe consider getting another box. But I picked up a cheap android TV (apple tv but android) and that does the job quite well.

oh very good - i can stream to my phone/ipad no trouble - can you send a link with that android Tv?

I had it setup with an ATV at one stage, but was only average stream

I believe the HD streams require a bit more resources.

    I have a mediabox:

except mine is black and I got it on adverts I believe. This is likely the newer model, its non branded mostly but if you check the config on it, its called mediabox. It pretty much turns your tv into a very large table, wireless keyboards and mice do work! and are far better than the supplied remote!

I'm a big fan of watching 1080p twitch tv on it.

Thanks for that - and how exactly did you go about streaming from the dreambox?

I used some vlc app and entered the stream info, aka IP and port of the http stream and I believe that was it, although finding a good working app is difficult you got to be willing to pay like 5e for a decent app or whatever, I havent tried streaming in ages, but I'll give it a go tonight or tomorrow and let you know what free apps work it.

If you have an android phone, any app you can get to stream it on that should work on this box! Thats the best way of testing.

    super thanks for that

I think with the ATV I was using XBMC and tuxbox to stream

Ive read here about a workaround with a second dreambox.....

Just bumping this again - i had an idea, and not sure if it will work or not....

basically, can i run the "line-out" from back of dreambox back into the wall, and then in the other room, run it into another receiver?

    not sure that makes sense!

Get a cheap modulator , connect to the DM800 by scart , then RF out from the modulator to as many tv's as you like.
You should pick a modulator up for €15-€20. Think I saw them on www.satboxes.com for about that price.
As for streaming , I find the iStreamGate app works very well on iPad and iPhone , as another poster said just put the box ip , port , username and password in and away you go , although there is some picture judder in HD

Thanks for that - is this what you mean? www.satboxes.com/shop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=64

I dont need to stream to ipad/iphone, just want to watch whatevers playing on the dreambox, in another room.

If I use the modulator option - what would I need in the other room?

yes thats the one , simply run a co-ax cable from that to your tv , tune your tv in analogue mode and hey presto , very simple.

    sounds good thanks for that

only think is, I want to run through an amp as opposed to a TV

If I had a second cheaper sat box, with hdmi, could I run the coax to this, and then hook up the sat box to the amp?
