Having an issue with a 02 Renault Clio 1.2

The electrical warning light is coming on the dash and I'm getting no throttle response when it does. I unplugged what I think is the throttle control sensor and this seems to clear the issue. However, problem happened again twice today.

I've included a couple of photos of what I am unplugging. Just wondering if anyone can identify exactly what it is? Thanks.

that's the coil pack. the car wont run with that un plugged. That's the unit that creates the spark to send to the spark plugs

The black box with the 4 leads is the coil pack distributor.
Your issue could with with the coil packs or the distributor.

Luckily it's not expensive parts but you still need to figure out if it's the pack or the disty.
Take it to a mech and get any codes read, it'll hopefully tell you where the problem lies.
Take packs out and inspect them.

    Is car idling/running rough?

    Thanks scrap man.

In theory that shouldn't cause unresponsive throttle then? The car starts and idles fine. Just no throttle when the warning light comes in the dash.

Car is running and idling fine. No issues there.
It's up with the mechanic now.

I might be wrong but it looks like you are just disconnecting an earth cable. It's hard to see but is there another cable connected to the other side of that plug ? or is it just that white wire ?
