How long do I have to wait after importing a car before I can sell it

    I was just wondering how long would I have to wait to sell a car here in Ireland after importing it from UK. I know I need to pay the VRT, but is there a time limit for how long I need to keep it?

    No. You can sell it straight away.
    There is time limit before you can sell it, if you avail of VRT exception, i.e. when you move here from other country with your car, and register it here without paying VRT.

    If you pay the VRT then, as far as I am aware, there are no restrictions on selling it.

    If you have been exempted from VRT due to transfer of residence then you need to keep it 12 months or you have to pay the VRT, this will be noted on the registration cert.
