Urgent advice needed

Applied for a FAS course and got a letter in Wednesday inviting me to a "Discussion and aptitude test" for it tomorrow morning.

I was delighted at the prospect of getting off the dole and doing something which might get me working and just now as I was about to head off to bed I realised I have no idea if they mean interview or not by "discussion".

I wasn't going to wear a suit, just slacks and a shirt, but if the focus is on the test, and everyone else is totally casual I'll feel like a moron. Any help from anyone who's been in this position? If it was just the test I'd go casual but the discussion part makes me think I should smarten up!:(

I would go with shirt and slacks if in doubt. what harm can it do

Shirt and slacks is fine, if you have a suit why not go the whole hog. Put your best side out and all that, never mind anybody else.

    DONT WEAR A SUIT.

    Its not an interview

they discuss the course to you and the other people in a group ( the course instructor will ) then you take an apitude test

at the most you'll get one on one with the course recruiter, but all they ask is why do you have an interest in this course,

i went in track suit bottoms before and got the course(s), they don't care for what you wear, just once you can prove your interested in the course

its not a job, they just want you to be interested
if you want go in a suit, but il guarentee you no one else will be, at the most go in jeans or chinos if your unsure, but a full suit, you will definitly be over dressed, fas is like college no one wears suits to college everyday ha

but most likely its just a group talk on the course an the test

I told you :pac: fas it definitly not the place to wear a suit, nothing but young people in it and a few oldies , even the oldies dont wear suits they go casual ha

only time you should wear a suit for a fas interview is for an apprenticship
but dont worry it wont have a negative view.

There's no harm. People say you should "Dress for the job you want, not the job you have". Maybe noone there is in a position to hire you but still...

My rule when it comes to those sort of situations is that it's always better to be over-dressed than under-dressed. :)

Thanks guys, the discussion was just describing the course to everyone there and then there was an aptitude test. Got a call back a few hours later inviting me to interview on Tuesday so I'm not sweating what I wore now :)
