I'm moving home for a while and the least I can do is help out paying some of the bills. We currently have sky multi room at home with sky sports. My Dad is paying for it. If he cancels his subscription can I just ring up and order it under my name as a new customer? He is paying 85 euro a month at the moment (entertainment plus, sky sports, multi room with 2 sky+ boxes). I looked on Sky for new customers I could get the same package with 2 new sky+ HD boxes with multi room and HD for 72 euro a month (for the first 6 months).

Also, if we cancel the other subscription, do sky take the boxes off you? I heard when you cancel it that RTE (freeview) channels still work so might not get Multiroom if thats the case

    Is this possible?

Sky are now monitoring all accounts been cancelled and signed up in same address and will bounce all new signups when there is an active account in a house...as this deemed as fraud by them. They say that new customers generally signup for more channels at the beginning meaning they turn around their investment in you i.e. by providing the equipment faster than customers who have been with them for yrs and have cut their package to the bare minimum.

Once 12 months has expired the equipment is yours to keep, however if you have a hd box you will not receive a lot of the fta channels as sky has blocked most out. You will need an old sky uk card or ftv card to give you all the fta channels on a hd box... If its not a hd box then you will receive all the fta channels by removing the sky card and rebooting the box.

However you will not get any irish channels for free on a sky box, you will need a terrestrial aerial and a saorview compatible tv or saorview box to receive them.

    Hope that helps.
