New CPU Cooler

I am running an AMD FX-8350, and it's great and everything but the stock cooler is extremely loud.

So I was wondering, does anyone have any recommended air coolers that aren't too expensive? I've heard good things about the Noctua NH-U12P but it's a little bit on the dear side and I've also hard good things about the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO but for that price is it quite quiet?

    Cheers

Can't go wrong with a 212 evo. It's reasonably quiet and has great performance for the price.

Thanks for the reply. The quietness thing was the biggest thing for me. If I get it and it's not as quiet as I would like, would I be able to change the fan?

Also, do you know if it comes with thermal compound?

I have one and it's very quiet, it does come with thermal compound.

It comes with a tube of decent silver based compound unlike a lot of more expensive coolers that only come with a sachet of some basic crap.

Fantastic, one more thing - Does anyone know if it will fit in a Corsair Carbide 300r case. If noone knows that's fine I'll measure myself, I'm just lazy :P

And if it does fit, I'll be ordering one in the next few days, thanks guys!

It should fit in most standard atx cases. It's relatively small.

Thanks a lot, I'll be ordering tomorrow.

Is there any way to close this thread now? You may have seen I'm relatively new here.

Just wanted to say, I got the cooler and installed it no problem. When I'm playing games it now tops out at 40 degrees (instead of 60+ when on stock) and is near silent, very good value for money.

    Thanks for the help!
