After using my mirror less Pentax Q for over a year, I'm considering the jump to a DSLR... I know Canikon are popular, but I'm keen to stick with Pentax. Any thoughts? I've had a good look at their lenses and they seem to offer all that I need and are more cost effective than the Canon or Nikon equivalents.

I use a pentax K20 and it is great. Takes all the old manual pentax lenses, great set of features for the price and fairly tough too.
the newer models will be even better. The AF is not as advanced as the canikon opposition but tecnique can maike up for this i find.
I would recomend Pentax to anyone.

Pentax Yes. Lots of happy Pentax users around these parts. I am also one.

Just to go into it with your eyes open, while the entry level cost is fantastic value, make sure to do a price comparison on lenses too. Lots of secondhand stuff which can be had really cheaply (particularly the older manual lenses) but some (notably the fifty) will be a great deal more expensive than the competition.

I think you don't have system compatibility with the Q, so you aren't losing one way or the other should you decide on a Canon or Nikon.

That said, buy the bloomin Pentax. They are as solid as they come. The world needs more Pentax users :p
