Dirt in spark plug housing?

Does anyone ever clean the area where the spark plug washer/seal sits? Is ther any special technique or tool for doing it?

I always feel an urge to clean up that surface but can't see any way of doing it without knocking dirt into the cylinder so just leave it. I've seen some pretty manky ones, where I've you have to be careful not to knock dirt in threading the plug. :D

This is what I have to deal with on my mothers renault. I normally vacuum away the leaves but there is still alot of crap left. YOu can see the crap that ends up down the tube on the side of the removed coil. Same stuff ends up under the plug washer.

Try hoovering. I just blow on (stick your finger in the hole to keep dirt out) it but hoovering or compressed air might do the trick.

Ah, I see you do hoover it.

Use an air duster with a fine nozzle on it while the plug is still threaded in place.
This is also common on bikes with long tunnels for the plugs.
If you are really worried about the dirt in there, use some degreaser and a bottle brush and then rinse it and blow it out.
Personally I wouldn't worry too much about general crap, if there was a shítload of sand or something like that then yes, I would clean it.
