A few months ago i got approached by a US magazine called Popular photography about using one of my pictures for there November Issue.

I was well excited and at first thought it was a joke but i kindly agreed for them to use my image to see what happens. Fast forward to today and they kindly sent me a copy of the magazine with my first ever print i have sold!!!

Well excited. Never imagined any of my pictures could be bought by anyone let alone a magazine.

It is the picture i took above the title "Wet Down" where i was on my way home from a social photo meet up in shoreditch. It was a raining at the time but still took out my camera to take pictures as there was some interesting light and reflections to capture

edit: to all the doubters who did not like my recent PP. well the pic above chosen by the magazine uses my trademark style of PP.

That is why i still use it because many people love it.

This is the place where people hate it.

So long as the majority like my style of PP, i will stick with it

No one has been rude enough to ask... how much did you get for it? Just curious in terms of pricing photos for print media. I've priced for web and brochures etc before, but never paper/mag.

No prob if you'd rather not say (and I'm not from Revenue either) ;)

Well done by the way, cracking photo and great to be in a mag :)

    1. Since when does the majority know anything about art? Just playing devil's advocate here.

    2. What style of post-processing? I'm flicking through your photostream and your photos look like they have the bare minimum of editing. Maybe some cropping and saturation boosting.

    3. Congrats on getting your photo published.

Nice one mate. Read that article the other night and that photo did stand out.

Fair play OP. The little rant at the end was like the episode of Fr. Ted where he wins the award then starts laying into the other priests, haha, gave me a chuckle.

Haha. I thought the exact same thing. I even went looking for the video on youtube to post here but I couldn't find it.

"no he really should be under liars, not twats'

    <Chuckle>

Thought the rant at the end was funny too.

How do you measure the majority vs the minority?

    Ha.. yes.. badly phrased question.

How do you measure the number of people that like your processing vs the number of people that do not?

    Poll thread?

What is this "trademark" style of PP anyway, the shot in question doesn't look like it was processed much differently than any other night shot I've seen. Maybe I need to see the original.

I've already looked at it and it seems like just a little bump in the red/blue saturation and maybe some sharpening and noise reduction.

I didnt see any previous discussions about his PP so I'm not sure what he's referring to.

Odd way to start a thread. Seems to be a general attack on some "doubters" but there is no context or even a link to the original photo provided.

Well done on being featured, recognition is always nice.

Can you provide the original PP discussion link and a link to the photo in question as it might make some interesting discussion.

I had a look at your flickr, some nice street stuff there.
I'm not seeing any "unique" PP style that would cause controversy though? You seem fond of saturation boost. Care to go into details.

    congrats!

if you like your style then don't worry what others say!
    Each to their own.
Some people love over the top HDR, some people hate it.

Just out of interest why didn't you post the photo itself so people could view it properly without having to go to Flickr to see it?

    Ok im back.

    Will answer your questions :)

I forgot to remove that part of my post actually because i originally posted it on a web site called hexus which has a lil photo sharing thread and every time i post pics of similar quality, the majority slag it off saying the PP is horid etc.

It is the only place where people dislike my style, the rest of the places i post my images do not complain at all and all love how colourful my images are.

For my style i like to boost saturation to give a warmth colourful vibrants to my shot and during the night, it is best shown.

Here is another pic taken on the same night that they also was considering to use and thought is a better pic.

I guess some people like to get worked up.
I'm not really seeing anything there to complain about.

I dont mind saturation on wet night shots with loads of lights. Works pretty well.
