It's legit, if you read it it says
This is your motor tax reminder. Please retain as you will not receive a renewal notice in the post.

Motor Tax for your BLACK VOLVO S60 expires on the last day of SEPTEMBER 2013.

If you have recently taxed this vehicle, please ignore this notice.

I see where you're coming from, it does look like a spam mail with a dodgy URL, but it redirects to motortax.ie.

Ah a techie question I can answer, the redirect URL is taking your email to sign you up to future contact from the tax office - seems forced but its probably a way to keep their mailing list current.

As a techie myself, if I get a mail from anyone I wasn't expecting and it has a clickable link in it I'd be wary of clicking the link directly. Especially if the didn't even appear to go to the same site as the people sending me the email in the first place! So if this is genuine (and if it's worked for some people I assume it is) then it's very bad practice from the motor tax people.

I agree, I'm very surprised why would someone like the Tax Office would outsource their mailing list provider - schoolboy setup.

The pin for online renewal on the Motor Tax Website is********

That is what I get every month, and it is always direct link to the Motor Tax website. I'll let you know if it changed at my next renewal, but they definitely shouldn't have used a link that isn't directly "linked" to their website.
Never happened to me, but maybe they changed the way they do it:rolleyes:
Outsourcing when they no longer need to deal with Driving License? Interesting:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
