    Hey,

Just moved into my first house and am in the market for a TV. The ST60 has got everything I want in my price range. I can't find many stores that sell to Ireland and are not overpriced. I'm considering Littlewoods at the moment but maybe you guys know the best way to buy this TV for around a grand.

    John.

Panasonic store Limerick €1249. I know its a bit over your budget; but for that money its a great 50" fullhd tv with a 5 year warranty.

Littlewoods are €100 cheaper but I reckon youd only get 1 year warranty.

Im currently interested in the TX-P50VT65B; its one of the best tvs on the market.

Don't know where you are but be warned Panasonic sets are hobbled and are problematical if you want to receive both UK and IRL DTT. There are plenty of sets that do not have these problems. Panasonic best avoided as otherwise Panasonic will never learn to fix these problems.

That is illegal. EU rules give you a 2 year warranty.

    Must be 2 years so.

The Sony Centre in Sligo town for €1150 with a 5 year warranty, you could also get the same TV from piximania online for €999.00 though it may not have the same warranty & personally I'd rather get it from a local store.

Was that not a few years ago? As far as I can make out most of the Panny sets are now Saorview approved and the same sets are sold in the UK. Sony, Samsung and LG do the same.

Yes, a few years ago, and there were still problems last month. Read this thread

Panasonics are hobbled and should be avoided.

Well I hope they have fixed the Vertical Banding issue that plagued the 50 series .

Panasonic are ceasing Plasma. They have consistently messed up Software/Firmware for Ireland.

You'd be mad to buy a Panasonic TV for Ireland.

Plasma might have been better than LCD a few years ago, but now it's a myth.

Maybe true, but still cant wait to get my hands on a new one. Ive had my current one for 5 years now and found it great. But now I fancy an upgrade so Im hoping to get a 50" VT :D

    +1

But, lets not turn this into a "LCD crap vs Plasma" debate.:D

I'm thinking of getting the st60 myself. Power city is the only place that seem to be selling it and it's priced at €1,249.99 with a one year warranty. Or I could buy it from Panasonic.ie for same price and a five year warranty. Bit of a no brainer really. Also I emailed Panasonic to ask would this tv be going down in price after Christmas and they said it wouldn't as they have stopped making plasma's because they want to be an 'Eco' company by 2018. They also said that stock of the st60 is very low.

Thanks but power city sorted me out. They said they would sell me one for €1,180.00 with the 5 year warranty. The only problem is I have to wait 10 days as they have to order it. I don't mind that though. I sold my 40" samsung smart tv yesterday for €730 which was 2 years old, so it's only costing me €450 to upgrade to a better tv....
