Strange JPEG Problem

So my mate does photography, professionally, and he recently done a shoot for a colleague - family portraits. Photos taken with high-end equipment and edited in the most recent version of Lightroom. Now, he does a lot, and gives a CD/DVD with the best pictures to the client.

So he gave the disc (DVD) to my colleague and there's 2 folders, Black and White and Colour. The b&w ones open fine, but none of the colour ones open. They were edited together, and extracted from raw to Jpeg format at the same time, burned to disc at the same time. All photos are at least 3mb up to 7mb.

Anyone ever come across this? Tried it on an XP laptop, my current Win 7 PC, and the clients laptop (which i think is Vista). Same on all of them, b&w open, colour doesn't. On the XP laptop, i simple get "preview not available", and on my Win 7 PC i get "Windows photo viewer cannot open this picture because either Photo Viewer doesn't support this file format, or you don't have the latest updates to Photo Viewer".

They won't open with Paint either, and i can't open them in Lightroom 5 which states that the file is corrupt. There isn't an issue with the raw pics, and he's burning them again, but just wondering if anyone came across anything like this.

Hmm, sounds interesting. Can you upload one here as an attachment or put one in dropbox so we can download it our selves and have a look?

Here's a dropbox link. Doesn't show a preview in that either!

Sounds like a dodgy disk. Not uncommon TBH.

Indeed, it got currupt in the conversion somehow. If it happens again then there is a problem somewhere

I was thinking just a burning issue alright. Strange the b&w worked but the colour didn't. Anyway, he's done another disc and all ok. Cheers people!
