has anyone any thoughts on the best brand of automatic gates for a residential house.

gates themselves are "normal" and are 14 ft wide.
the access system/automation is what i need advice on.

    thanks.

I'm hope the OP dosen't mind me being a little cheeky here; but if anyone is able to answer the OP's query could they also state the approximate cost of supplying and fitting such a system where a electric power supply is already in place.

Got beninca gates from a supplier in Cavan. Bit pricey but they were efficient and easy to deal with .1900 all in for underground system with audio intercom incl installation.
No problems so far after a few months. Gates are electric with oil sealed motors.
Would recommend them as I called a quite a few and very few got back.

Be very careful. There are a lot of idiots claiming to be specialists and as I found out they are not. I have been locked in to my drive about 5 times this year alone.

Apologies for bumping this thread but I am looking at installing electric gates shorlty and have looked at this system. I am wondering if you have any any issues with the system in the intervening period?

No problems what so ever. Happy customer.

I'm getting a quote of between €2,100 if the existing cat5 works for the intercom (wired intercom €180) or €2,500 if a GSM intercom (€460) is required for an underground installation - does this seem expensive? Got a provisional quote for a Faac system of between €1,700 and €1,800 but the comany hasn't come on site yet so don't know how it will end up.

I had power and cat5 wires to the gate. No gsm. So keypad with audio. No need for video in the intercom.

OK so on a knock for knock my quote is about €1k more expensive. Here's hoping I won't have to opt for a GSM intercom. Apparently some people don't install intercoms but I would not like to have a setup which meant people could be stuck outside gate with no means of contact.

Anyone got any views of a Faac -v- benica system? My problem is I am laying sma next week and need to get boxes installed in advance so very little time to shop around.
