    Hi,

I've been reading these boards for a while now researching details for my first gaming PC build. I went ahead and had a rig built with the intention of picking up the GPU later after the new AMD cards were announced. However I'm not sure now if I went with a strong enough PSU.

I'm most likely to got for one of the new R9 280x cards (decided over the 7970 for the lower power consumption), and I'm running a Be Quiet Pure Power L7 530w PSU.

The rest of my PC specs are:
AS Rock Z87 Pro 4 Motherboard
    i7 4770 (standard version)
    16GB Corsair Vengance memory
    1TB WD blue HDD
    300mbps internal wireless card
    No optical Drive
    Win 7 Premium

I'd really appreciate if anyone can advise if i'll need to upgrade the PSU to run that card.

    thanks for any help.

I've heard of bequiet, but not of that PSU, a quick google seems to suggest its a solid unit. You'll be fine !

Minimum wattage requirement is 550W, so long as it's a good PSU you should be fine (which I think it is)

You will be fine, unless you love crazy overclocks and pushing your system to the max.

You will be fine. The 7970 would have been a better choice for the price in my opinion, the power difference is minimal too.

Cheers for all the feedback, I went ahead with the 280x.

I didn't see much savings going for a 7970 over the 280x and wanted to be sure it would be ok for Mantle.

Now I just need to retrain myself on a mouse and keyboard in time for BF4. Haven't really been near a PC for gaming since MOH Allied Assault!!

That's a decent price for a 280x VaporX model. The DualX model could have been had for 30 euro less on HWVS however. And the Matrix 7970 for less than 270 delivered and it would have overclocked better. All in all, though, you didn't make a bad choice, it's a fantastic card for the money :) And that mofo will overclock well :)
