Lads, I'm new to the game. I've neglected it for far too long. Since the beginning of the new season I've tuned into sky sports on sundays to try to learn the game. However, I've struggled to follow the games sometimes and was wondering if there are any sites you'd recommend that could teach the rules and history of the game

Whacker here are some links which will give you a bit of help with getting started.

    http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/beginnersguidetofootball"]http://www.nfl.com/rulebook/beginnersguidetofootball

That link above gives a basic overview of the rules.

    http://www.dummies.com/how-to/sports-outdoors/football/Football-Basics.html"]http://www.dummies.com/how-to/sports-outdoors/football/Football-Basics.html

That last link there has some nice subcategories for you to check out. From common football terms you will hear, right through to different player positions and what they do.

Set up a football folder in your browser favorites folders and just bookmark them for further referencing. If you don't know something, then feel free to ask a question. No matter what thread you're in, one of the lads will always help you out if you're stuck. Oh and welcome to the forum.:)

Yeah. I decidedto go for a team that has never won a super bowl that isn't completely crap.

The Houston Texans. I've no links to the place or anything, its just for that extra bit of interest

Interesting fact that most NFL fans don't know: Peyton Manning and Eli Manning don't just share a surname, they are actually brothers.

Apparently their father also played in the NFL in the 70's but I can't find a links to back up that claim tho.

You'll get interest with the Texans all right! After last year when they did so well, they've gone right downhill now. Trouble is - every team knows how to play them now. Good group of players, but crap coaching. Kubiak is gone after this season I think.

    What do you think??
