Light box/dawn simulator

Hi, hope this is the right place for this thread.

I'm interested in positive and negatives experiences with lightboxes and dawn simulators. I understand they are used with a number of conditions apart from depression/SAD, which is why I made a general thread rather than put a post in a depression thread.

My personal issue is that my sleep has been enormously disrupted for reasons including insomnia and a possible chemical imbalance. I definitely feel markedly better when the sun is out. Now that winter's here I was thinking of a light box or dawn simulator - but I seem to be sensitive to LED lights, which it seems most use nowadays. I'd be interested in any suggestions, but just other people's experiences too, especially people with SAD and various other conditions.

I have a light box. However, I found it a bit too bright for me (I have light sensitivity due to ME) and gave me some headaches.

Regarding LED lights/similar, I've recently started wearing blue-blocker glasses for a few hours before going to bed. I'm finding I'm sleepier during that period and yawning more. But it's very early days yet (only two weeks) and I haven't tried to shift my clock back yet.

That's very interesting, kangaroo, thanks for the feedback. Your experience makes me feel that a light box may not be the way to go given my own light sensitivity, hadn't thought of the blue-blocker glasses though. I'll look into that.
