So I have started looking into Kinect for Windows for an Art Project.

I have some programming knowledge but struggling to get my head around this.

I'm looking to take a 3D model of a fish and attach it to the head point of the Kinect Skeleton but finding it hard to get my head around (C# and Kinect SDK).

There is very little info on line, I've looked through their examples and the avatar using the XNA engine looks promising but replacing the dude with a new mesh seems impossible, I have also been on to coding4fun site but can fing anything there, I've tried interaction with 3dsmax autodesk shiva but can seem to get working.

Anybody have any resources that i may have missed or any help would be great

    Thanks

    Omega

Some of the folks working on PCL have also linked in Kinect; see http://view.pointclouds.org/news/2013/05/13/kinect-for-windows-with-pcl/

I was going to do an FYP with Kinect and I did a tiny bit of coding in it. It was difficult to say the least.

I was using this book, which seemed okay.

Best of luck with it. Probably a nice skill to have considering they'll be baked in to the new consoles (and ultimately laptops too).

Post a youtube of the finished product!

I will do, the Idea is an interactive window, when someone walks by the window a fish will swim along with them, turn if they turn and swim out of frame when they do

Idea's, don't you just hate them lol

Post some code and show where you're having trouble. Is it getting the data from the kinect or is it mapping that data to the fish? You'll either have to normalise the vector of the head or map it from the camera vector.
