Price for a 630i

Going to have a look at this in a couple of weeks when I'm down in Cork and just wondering what peoples views on on what I could realistically bargain for it?

    http://www.driving.ie/used-cars/BMW/6-Series/630i-Coupe/34413664341084850/

There seems to be a fairly wide gap online for these although this one has the black leather interior which is what I'm more after and is harder to find in a black car

Anyone know aswell if 18" rims were the std on these? Thought they were on 19's. Whats the situation with the runflats? DO they make it more uncomfortable? Can they be replaced easy enough for normal tyres or does it affect the ride, etc

    Thanks

Afaik 18's were options on the 630i but not the 645 as the brakes were bigger. Definitely ditch the RFT's, no one likes them and they are no better on E63's than any other BMW. Running real tyres and not lego tyres (RFT's) does affect the ride.. its way better.

when you say 18's were options, is that saying that 17's were standards?

That is a ridiculous price....totally off the wall. I sold a 645 2005 with the same milage in 2011 for 10k.

scratch that, just found this online

"Six-speed manual, automatic or BMW’s Sequential Manual Gearbox and the car sits on 17" alloy wheels fitted with 245/50 R17 tyres"

If you can afford to pay 17k on a 630i do yourself a favour a pick up a minter 645i . 645i is a different animal and streets ahead of the 630i.

Besta luck with your decision but 17k is just 5k too much for that car.

thanks, this is the kind of info I was looking for.
I've seen prices vary from 10k-18k for a circa 05-07 models depending on milage etc. I've been out of the game for a while looking at used car prices but have seen a few of these recently and I've got a bit of an itch, so I thought I'd ask the question

Having driven both honestly there is not a lot in it except the noise. The 6 cylinder engine is considerable lighter offsetting the power difference. There is not comparison in engine noise the v8 rumbles like a boss, but driving wise its hard to choose between them and the v6 is more economical and seems to have better residuals.

The price is steep, I would have thought. Especially in this day an age, it'll be hard to shift.

BUT, if it comes with an approved used Warranty then it probably is worth a bit more than others. Not 18 grands worth though. 14/15 might be a fair price

17k? You'd get a decent 650i for that me thinks.

I have been looking at these for a LONG time as I am considering one for my next car. The 630's seem to hold their value really well. Actually the below might be of interest to you, although I LOVE the 6 series and a soft top came up behind me the other day & I personally wouldnt look at them twice...

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/bmw-650i-sport-convertible/5814587

To put it into perspective a bmwdrivernet member recently tried to sell his 2004 645, nice car, he accepted 6k and then buyer pulled out, goes to show what value people put on the earliest of 6 series, which only had the massive engines.

the above is silver and no sport seats from what I can see, either of those would be a deal breaker for me personally... the below is a cracker IMO, not sure if it has the newer more unreliable 3L engine though...

If you had to sell you would be lucky to see 10k for it. That is the only way to judge its true price.

I beg to differ. Driven both myself and owned the v8 version which I rue the day I sold it. It was a magnificent car and an immense motorway cruiser. With 333bhp I think , it was a fast ship. The 630i albeit a fine car is not in the same league.

To the OP, steering racks can give trouble of these cars. Make sure on the test drive there is no clicking noises as it's an expensive repair bill.

Arent they all the same 3litre 6pot, the fancy newer one which I think was the lightest 6pot on sale at the time?
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_N52#N52B30

The only 630i I would consider would be a cheap one with a manual box. For whatever reasons, they are usually neither of those things! The 645/650 I take no problems (though manual would be so awesome but so rare in one of them too).

your probably righ, I just know a new engine came in late 2007 AFAIK, at least it did for the 3 and 5 series and this is the one that is fond of coil packs and injectors...

I'd prefer a manual too but have yet to see one here for sale
Seen a couple in UK but doesnt make financial sense to import one

The 630i only has 255bhp well that's slightly disappointing! I think the 6 series is one of the nicest modern looking BMW`s.
yeah its 258bhp AFAIk BUT it is very light and fuel efficient...

It is fuel efficient, but its not that light (1615kg), just light for a 6 series!

saw it earlier...convertible and not sure i could live with the red interior

yeah Matt I meant relatively light, I think I read that its 130kg lighter than the 645, that is a heap of weight!

I'd be the opposite: the interior is why is buy it. The external color is so Meh.

    Some car for the money.

He's letting it go for €14k now, I'd be tempted myself!

There's a good one for 14k on BMW driver forum. Getting traded in very shortly so that won't hang around for sale.

€13,750 for another '06, although the lower price would be due to the higher mileage @ 97k

    An '05 645i for €10k

By just having a random trawl around, the prices are so varied.

If its a diesel you are going for then make sure you pay attention to this site or get a fund going for an engine replacement down the line

that car is up the road from me, went to take a look at it a few weeks ago, dealer was closed though and gates locked, so couldnt get a proper look, that car has been up for MONTHS at this stage, I'd pay 8k max for it, assuming there isnt something wrong with it. I have mentioned in this thread already a member of bmwdriver.net accepting an offer on his 2004 with lower mileage for 6 and it then fell through, the above car is also about to go 9 years old...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,220 ✭✭✭✭Lex Luthor

I need to get some idea of running costs, etc
There are some nice examples all about 100k km mark, that I'd like to get an idea of what big bills could hit me in the next year or 2

I bought an 8yr old E39 523i back in 2005 and was stung badly...total lemon and clocked to the hilt, so I'm very wary of buying used again, particularly big BMW's that sometimes can hide their mileage very well. Cost me a fortune over the 2-3yrs ownership
Any idea which is the best BMW driver forum online?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,127 ✭✭✭✭Idbatterim

I'd recommend the below. Best thing if you are patient is wait for an enthusiast to sell his or hers... There have been 2 or 3 for sale on bmwdrivernet in the last year, that I wouldnt have had hesitation in purchasing, especially as most of them have their own thread, where the owner documents the work done etc, takes photographs, anyone doing this is a blatant enthusiast and your chances of buying a

    http://www.bmw-driver.net/forum/index.php

I got stung with my first 318ci a few years ago, well stung or unfortunate with what failed. Make sure you get any car thoroughly checked prior to purchase, the reason I'm not purchasing yet, is I believe the 630's are still overpriced, I got whacked with depreciation on the 318ci before (due to the bust) and I'm sure as hell not having that again, makes me laugh people worrying so much about the tax and buying cars on which the depreciation will make the motor tax look like a side show... I deem a car to be worth, what I would be able to sell it for if I bought today and put it up tomorrow on donedeal / carzone etc...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,220 ✭✭✭✭Lex Luthor

anybody know how useable are the back seats?
I had a look inside one today and the back of the front seat was only 5 or 6" space to the back seat. Even a 10yr old would be restricted there

Now its hard to tell what position the driver had the front seat at, so they may be just one of these drivers who have the seat back a good way, but if its a squeeze then it could be a deal breaker for me :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,127 ✭✭✭✭Idbatterim

back seats are useless, unless its for very short spin for tall adults in the back, kids would be ok. rear headroom was worse than my E46 coupe...
