Dublin Bus route 40 having a rough time at the moment

I see on the Dublin bus twitter account that the 40 is not serving ronanstown due to antisocial behavior. Its ironic that the bus cannot serve ronanstown garda station.

Last night (and a couple of times over the last few weeks) it wasn't unable to serve parts of finglas. Its happening a bit too often at the moment.

Is there anything that can be done or is it a case that Dublin bus has to ride the storm with these curtailments and hope it goes away.

Used to happen a lot that it wouldn't go through finglas south. Sometimes they would send an unmarked garda car behind it but can't be done for every service. Just have to bypass the area

It's not as if there's Gardai standing outside the station 24/7 in fairness. There's fields surrounding the area that objects can be pretty handily lobbed at buses from without beeing seen.

Curtailments, and sometimes community meetings generally do the trick.Things usually get a bit hairy for a bit when the evenings start to get dark earlier and in the lead up to halloween.

Buses pulled from finglas again tonight
Dublin Bus wishes to advise customers that due to Anti Social behaviour in the Cappagh Rd area, that route 40 will be unable to serve the Finglas West area for the remainder of the evening.
Route 40 will operate via Mellows Rd and The Main Rd in both directions.

Its unfair for those who have to walk to the nearest stop in the weather conditions tonight but that's not on the mind of those causing the trouble.

This always happens at this time of year. Kids get access to bangers/fireworks and it's deemed too dangerous to go through some of those areas. It must be very annoying for people who live there.
