    Hi all,

I've recently moved to Belfast to study/work, and am inviting a few guys and girls from my course to come with me to see a Belfast Giants game, a few others who'd never been before are going to come. I'm almost a complete newb to ice hockey, went to see one game in Italy when I was much younger and remember it being good crack.

Is it much fun? Do many people go to the games? Is there much of an atmosphere? Is there beer?

Haven't been to the Giants myself but last I looked they get decent crowds of about 3,500, one of the better supported teams in the league. Hockey is a great night out and yes, there is beer available. In the US you can bring it to your seat, not sure about the UK league.

Should be a good match this weekend against the Panthers. The Panthers won the league in Belfast last year and there seems to be a bit of ill feeling between the fans :p

Oh and make sure you have time to get a beer at 'the Rockies' before hand, it is the best hockey bar in the UK.

Thanks for that! I've actually been looking for a good sports bar in general. Do they show the football in The Rockies as well?

Where is the Rockies in relation to the Rink?

It is actually in the arena complex - right at the main doors. The owner is an ex hockey player and there are shirts and photos form various North America / European hockey clubs.

Yes they have sport on, they had the 6 nations rugby and the EPL on when I was there last.

If I get the chance I'll post some photos later tonight!
