bale carrier trailor

Looking at buying a bale carrier trailor

I have an ursus c385 which is a zetor crystal

I understand from the trailor manufactor that the distance from ground level to the bar on the trailor that holds the bale is 21 inches

As I was worried I put a bale on the spike last nite and measured the distance from the ground to the bottom of the bale - it was 19 inches.

Is there any way round this, I have shortened the top link, are there any other adjustments I can make.

I don't want to buy one of these trailors and then discover that I cant life a bale on.

    I don't have a front loader

Do you have 2 tractors when drawing in? If so, (or if not), the trailer unhooked and resting on a small block on the ground may be lower towards the front which may aid loading. When the front is loaded, hook on trailer and raise the front if possible to load the back. Also, can you load with a bale lifter, which would have more clearance, rather than a spike? A hydraulic top-link might also help.

very hard load them trailers without a loader or bale handler on mast type setup on the back like yo would have with shear grab

I have a single bale carrier as well, would it be easier with to load with a bale carrier than a spike

A neighbour makes these types of bale carriers and a good few people around have them and are well able to load them with a bale carrier or a spike. People even use them to move wrapped bales without damaging them! On his , the bars for holding the bales are welded to the lower part of the chassis beam that runs right through the carrier and he runs them on a lorry front axel and wheels which has a U shaped axel and means that it's not too high. The bar for carrying the bales is no more than 14 or 15 inches off the ground.

Quite similar to the ones in the pic

I loaded plenty of bales onto the type of trailer Reilig posted.
Drop the trailer and load away with the spike. The trick is to bury the spike in the bale as low down as you can, so you'll get max height when you lift it up.
You can't load the trailer at the back first (it trailer is unhooked) or it will rear up with the weight of the bale, so start on the front.
You might want to put a bit of timber under the skid on the trailer if the ground is soft or you'll bury the drawback eye!
I used to drop a 7th bale on the axle too sometimes, but that was using a loader.

For anyone that has a loader, they would be better off with a normal trailer for the price of these as it can be used for so much more.

The ground clearance on these can also be an issue.

I use two of these.. very easy used and loaded. Made them myself with dad. I bring 10 on each. 6 on the floor, 1 between the wheels and 3 on top. Using a loader and they are wrapped. Easily bring 6 with spike or carrior. If u buy one make sure the bars are continuous through the chassis! They are next to impossible to break. Abd mine has moved plenty.

i have a malone bale carier which i load with a standard bale handler. the bars are under the drawbar rather than through it or on top which makes it a lot lower and easier to load bales. we have loaded it with an ursus 912/zetor 12111 which would have the same lift/back end as your tractor. i would recommend the malone, it is well built and built strong. bought 6 years ago for 1400

Could one of these be used for moving silage bales? :)

Great tractor! We farm with one of them. Letting it go soon though, we are selling the loader if your looking for one.
As for the bale carriers, i find them very useful when travelling a bit of a distance.
