Is it worth upgrading my 6950(1gig) for BF4 now or should I wait for another month or two? 200 would be my max spend is there any value to be had?

    Current system
    Intel Core i5-2500K Box, LGA1155
    ASRock P67 Pro3 (B3), Sockel 1155, ATX
    8GB-Kit G.Skill PC3-10667U CL9
ASUS EAH6950 DCII /2DI4S/1GD5, AMD Radeon HD 6950, 1GB, PCI- Express
    24" 1080p Monitor

    Thanks

If you are unhappy with the way bf4 is running: you could get a HIS 7950 they were going for about €220 last I checked on overclockers.Co.Uk. Best you will get on your budget.
Just checked clockers:card back up to £200 it was down to £180 recently which converts roughly to €220. I managed to pick one up for £185 about a week ago.

If you watch the price it may fall again. Your other option is try to get a cheap nvidia 760 they start at about €230

The Sapphire 7950 Boost is £180 at the moment on ocuk, that would be about €225 including delivery. Get3 free games with that aswell. As uberpixie said though the prices are changing fast so id keep an eye on it and act quick if you spot something good

The beta did not run great but I guess it was a beta. I could wait and stick with the 6950 for another couple of months if there was anything on the horizon that would drive down the prices of current cards in the near future? Would the 7950 give me a significant improvement over the 6950? Im guessing the 1 v 3 gig of ram would help alot?

Wait till beta is over... A lot of people had trouble in beta and I'm talking 7970, 680 owners. Don't panic

Waiting works only in your benefit. The full release will run smoother no matter what. If you find its still a little slow the release of the "new" AMD card offerings will change prices of gpus. So you will pick up a better deal.

There will also be a few second hand gpus on offer as people want to switch to the rehash AMD cards.

I reckon the release of the new gpus already has affected prices, looks to me like most retailers are trying to sell of there 7xxx series cards.

Theres also only two gpus not released from the new line, r9 290 and the r9 290x. The rest of the line is already available, and the two I mention above are looking to compete with gtx 770's,gtx 780's and Titans so they would be out of most peoples price bracket anyway.

Bar those two the new line is basically a rebrand of older models. The r9 280 is the direct replacement for the 7950 but retails around €300, the 7950's linked above are nearly €100 cheaper for whats basically the same performance.

I would agree that the bf4 beta is not a good reason to upgrade though, if your happy with every other aspect of the card you should wait and see how it performs with full release of the game before making up your mind on an upgrade

Have you updated to the latest beta drivers? Ati released driver improvements for bf4.

Updated the beta drivers but performance was still pretty bad even on medium settings. Guess will have to wait and see.
