Looking for something to run backups to a USB external drive. Already have time machine, this is a "just incase".

    Any thoughts or preferences ?

I haven't used either in a while, but I'd say CCC. It complements rather than replicates TM's functionality. Superduper is nice but I never had any use for it post-Leopard.

Personally I've always used CCC and on occasion super duper. CCC can be scripted to do regular clones or incremental backups like Time Machine.

I don't know SuperDuper but use CCC every day to back up my 1Tb USB archive to another 1Tb USB (Time Machine backs up the hard drive). CCC is very reliable and easy to set up but thankfully have never had cause to use it in anger.

I know you said just in case but why would you need more than time machine? What do CCC and Superduper do that time machine don't?

Got caught out with a time machine failure before. "Double bagging it"
