Car Tax - Exempt to not exempt

I am thinking of buying a car where the owner was previously exempt from paying road tax. I would assume there should not be an issue once the ownership has changed to start paying motor tax again. But is there anything i should look out for as i cant find much information on paying motor tax after an exemption. Thanks in…

Not sure but it should be straightforward, just start paying. You may want to ring your tax office or Shannon.
Was the car previously for a disabled person or something else? Depending on its previous life it may need to be re-registered, the tax office will know.

what qualifies for a car to be exempt?

saw a brand new golf gti yesterday in cork and was curious to see the tax rate ( to compare to my own 08 model €710 pa). The car had a disc but all it said was €0. How is this possible? tks
