    Hi all,

it appears I have ringworm amongst the milkers judging by the marks on their coats. I hear if you leave it it will die off eventually, just that they'll be going into the shed in the next month and was wondering should I act in some way? Thanks

Last time I had it on animals, vet recommended that a spray of iodine worked as good as any other treatment!

Our vet recommends Imravol and it's great stuff, but crazy dear.
Friend recommended the Iodine spray and it's great stuff, little slower than the Imravol but it works great and cheap as chips.

are there any implications for using imravol in milking stock?

Was there something odd this year? I've got ringworm on my cows too. One calf got it and spread to his mother who spread to the rest of the cows. Haven't had it in the herd for over 20 years. they are looking dead scruffy now. I've dosed them with Ivomec, but of course you can't use that on milking cows.

Steri 7 disenfectant works well as well. Just mix up to normal rate and spray on with a hand sprayer. Works well and should only need two applications.

It think it's airborne.. it aint a worm anyway! It's a fungus the mild weather in the past few weeks was perfect for breeding midges and fungus. Imvarol treats it well. I added tea tree oil for it's anti fungal properties and aside from being a pain in the a**e to spray the cattle affected area it was successful.

You will get the usual burnt oil suggestions, but that's the high sulphur content that kills it off,, plus the usual other by products of an engine.

Tradition around these parts is to hang holly up in the shed and as the holly dies so does the ringworm
