Considering buying a wii u for xmas or after xmas if there'll be a big price difference doesnt bother me either way.

    My questions before purchase are:
    • Is there a list of games that are playable on the gamepad itself as I understand not all games are compatible.
    • Can you play downloaded games from the wii u shop on the gamepad ?
eg say Zelda OOT is in the wii u shop, does it run on the gamepad or do I have to play it on the tv ?
    • Is there a list of games that are available for download.
    • Will I be able to transfer them to Nintendos next console whenever that arrives in the future ?
Gamepad playability is hugely important to me. I'll probably play it very little on the actual tell probably about 70% game time on the gamepad itself.

Lastly is theres anything I need to know on memory etc.. ?

    thanks a mil.

ps could you play original wii games on the gamepad?? I assume not but that would be seriously cool.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Off-TV_Play#Games
    • Can you play downloaded games from the wii u shop on the gamepad ?
Depends on the game, they should be all covered by the link above but Virtual Console games should all play "Off-TV"
    • Is there a list of games that are available for download.
The easiest solution is go here http://www.nintendo.co.uk/Search/Search-299117.html select "Games" and then tell it you only want WiiU downloadable games etc
    • Will I be able to transfer them to Nintendos next console whenever that arrives in the future?
The Wii games transferred to the WiiU but since there is another ~5 years until the next home console so no idea

OoT is not available on the WiiU just 1, 2 and Windwaker HD AFAIK

fair play for that. Answers a lot. I just saw a video on youtube as well showing that you can play old wii games on the gamepad. There was an update a couple of weeks ago seemingly making this possible which really peaks my interest in this console as theres piles I missed on original wii that I want to give a go.

You can VIEW Wii VC games on the Gamepad. But you need to use the WiiMote to play them - you can't use the Gamepad's buttons or a Pro Controller

The big games I've found that don't use Off TV play are ZombiU and Lego City Undercover.

If you're buying a WiiU, bear in mind the following games can be gotten for under €20 online, so if you're building a bundle make sure you factor in the correct price when evaluating any saving
Batman Arkham City - goes for around £13 on Amazon, and is f'ing brilliant
Darksiders 2 - Was about £12.50, may go up as high as £15 these days. Pretty good explore/adventure game but not world class.
ZombiU - Regularly dips under £13 on Amazon, Zavvi, Base and various other sites. Very tense game. Play the Demo
Assassin's Creed III - typically £12.50-13.99 depending on prevailing winds.

So don't let any shop tell you the RRP is €60. Maybe it is, but that's not what you'll pay for them if you shop around.

Sonic Racing Transformed, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Rayman Legends - currently no deals on them that I've seen, but they've all dipped into the sub-£20 (sterling, not euro) zone in the past.

Mario bros, Pikmin and Lego City Undercover have held their value well :)

Ah man thats such a shame. I thought you'd be able to use the gamepad controls themselves.

That puts a dampener on my idea for now anyway.
Hopefully they'll patch it that you can use the gamepad controls.

Just seems wrong having to use the wiimote when the controls are right there!!

Guessing it would be difficult to go in and patch the controls for all the Wii games. Something like Skyward Sword with the 1:1 controls wouldn't be possible.
