Bright Angel Falling - James Cameron unproduced doomsday movie

I love Armageddon (hate me) and Deep Impact, and find the former terribly entertaining and rewatchable, just one of those brilliant 90's movies that endearingly stupid and "lets do this!!" and was not overly written.

However Cameron had his own script for an asteroid movie of his own

    Bright Angel Falling
    Genre: Sci-fi
Premise: A civilization ending comet is on a collision course with Earth.
About: Back before Armageddon and Deep Impact, James Cameron (along with Peter Hyams) was angling to get his own asteroid/comet disaster flick into theaters. For whatever reason, his script was ignored in favor of Dreamworks’ and Disney’s own versions. Or was it?
Writer: Peter Hyams and James Cameron
    Details: 136 pages (undated draft)

    Interesting.

Wasnt Caneron a script doctor back in the day? I wouldnt be surprised if large portions of Bright Star Falling ended up in Armageddon and Deep Impact.

I don't think Cameron was ever a script doctor. He was a writer for hire in the '80s but briefly.

As for Bright Angel Falling, I'm pretty sure the plan was for Hyams to direct, not Cameron.

Why do people always apologise for Armageddon? Cracking stuff for what it's trying to do.

Me thinks people don't like to be bigging up anything directed by Mr. Bay. He wasn't half bad back in the 90's in fairness.

It was always intended as a Hyams directed project. Think that at one stage after Hyams had moved on to other projects Cameron toyed with directing it himself but quickly moved on to other things.

People can't apologise enough for Armageddon far as I'm concerned.
