hi I am yet another 6th year student seeking advice about couses. I do biology, physics, chemistry, business and the other 3. I love maths especially algebra but also love particle physics. I have four courses in mind but cannot decide what to do.They are actuarial and financial studies UCD, acturial studies DCU, theoretical physics TCD and nanoscience, physics and chemistry of advanced materials.. I know a lot about the 2 actuary courses but am unsure what you are qualified to do after the other two courses.Any advice would be really appreciated.

I know TPs who've got trading jobs and finance jobs. I know others who've gone on to go to Cambridge, imperial and further afield for postgraduate study. There are certainly many options.

Why the hell would you want to do actuarial studies if you love particle physics?!?

Go and study physics for goodness sake!

Don't worry, physics is going to involve plenty of maths!

And no, I wouldn't have thought you'll find too many undergraduate particle physics programmes - that's far too specific for an undergraduate programme. I would be looking at physics courses generally. Don't worry - you'll be able to specialise in later years. In fact, in many institutions, like UCD and Cambridge for example, you'll actually start out under the general heading of science and then gradually specialise.

Theoretical physics in Trinity is probably the best in Ireland related to your interests. First two years are 2/3 maths, 1/3 physics, while the final two years are split equally. Modules are here.
