I was looking for a cheap lock-up to rent in the Balbriggan area where I could work on cars. I know of one place where you can hire containers - but there's no electricity. Bad idea?
And of I go ahead with it, is there a suitable light I could use, for instance a solar one that would give adequate lighting?

I'm in the same situation - looking in North Dublin (although looking a bit closer to Dublin than you) and a container would be a very last resort. It's coming to winter and there will be very little light to power solar. I also think the containers might be a bit narrow and it would be hard to get in and out of the car door.

I'm looking for the same thing in Balbriggan area as well. I'm going to look at the containers advertised in the M1 business park. they say they have electricity in add on gumtree.

there are many units for rent around 500 to 650 pm if people wanted to share.

wonder, what you would do in container with car ? i think you even wont open door fully , me and my friend was looking for place where to work on cars, with lift, but no joy ... it is expensive from 800 and up.

I was going to start in the container just to see if I really wanted to keep going at my plans I know the room in a container is bad. but it was the least expensive way to start. The ones advertised on gumtree are at the mini roundabout at the M1 where they sell cheap tyres. Not really a place that I would want to be around.

How much are you all planning on spending on renting space if it included a car lift etc. I've rented space before in Lusk but that person sold the house. That's the ideal scenario a little workshop behind a house.

Plenty in Walkinstown if you want to travel that far.

I don't mean to brag, but every so often I have to count my blessings. I live in a detached house, 2 miles from town, with enough room out front to park a bus! Likewise out the back, plus 3 sheds! One is used for junk, fuel, gardening stuff etc. Another is home to my donor car and the third is workshop, with benches all round 2 sides, home to a 17 ft boat, a trailer and still room to fit my car in and work on it! Woo hoo. Anyway, you guys should really look at sharing as an option. It has its' pros and cons, but it's a way to get started.

You need to upgrade to a Farm. Space and sheds then become almost limitless. :D I think my missus wishes we lived somewhere smaller.

Yeah, maybe having a farm would mean that I might get to use the boat more often!

I'm still on the lookout for a garage, I'd be interested in sharing a unit, but only with people who have their own gear, and are fully tooled up, don't like messing!
