Starting a 6 week course of 12 classes in FAS tomorrow nightdoing a 'Digital Imaging Using Photoshop'

I use Lightroom for my needs but always wanted to use one of those Photoshop 'free' DVDs that came with magazines :P

Anyone ever done one and if so any use?

A few years ago I learnt the photoshop basics from a boards organised tutorial, back in '06 , think it was Elven who gave it .
My limited knowledge , has been gained like most things from hit and miss , but I do know that I like , as little photoshopping as possible . - but, its good to know , what it is i don't like .

Some guy who used to post here a lot complained about a Fas photoshop course before. Said he know more than the instructor.
I'd say it depends on the instructor myself. You could get someone who works orhas worked in the field and knows what they are doing and is enthusiastic or you could get someone who just teaches photoshop based on out of date knowledge and just treats it like a job.
You can learn most of photoshop on your own but sometimes it's good to be forced into a classroom environment if you find it hard to sit down and teach yourself.

Well I had to do a Fas course and it isn't costing me anything so I chose that one.

I did a Digital Design for Website Production course a few years ago - did the first 3 months of a 6 months full time course - didn't get to even start on anything related to web design.. but did do a lot of photoshop and illustrator!

I learned a lot, but if you don't actually use it - you forget it just as quickly! I think you'll learn what is applicable to you those tips/tools will stay with you. The rest, you'll file away in the not for me part of the brain :)

That's why only the good bits stick - it's like a filter - you'll leave all the irrelevant parts behind and only take the bits you need :)

    As an aside
    http://www.creativelive.com/live

Have free tutorials that you can watch live (they also have some rebroadcasts) or subsequently purchase.

Current one ongoing is 30 days of photoshop with Dave Cross

    They have frequent PS tutorials

And some of the other topics that they do may also interest people

As with anything in life I think:D

That aside, I'd love to do a photoshop course just to give me more confidence as I dont know what im doing!! I use the book 'Teach yourself Visually - Photoshop Elements 10 by Mike Wooldridge and Brianna Stuart, and I love the images showing how, what, when and where....But a classroom - yeah, I'd really like that.:)
