My first Fallow trophy head

    I shot this Fallow at the end of last season and have just got to finish it off.
    I had it in a tree for 6 months and then in water for a few days to soften up. I cut off as much flesh and bits then burred it in the ground for 3/4 weeks to get rid of the last bits of flesh.
    Happy with the way it turned out.

    No I don't think it's that good to get a medal. Looks bigger in the photo's.
    But it's a very good head for where it was shot as I'v not seen many that much bigger.
    I was a big animal that came running into me from 500y off. Stopped about 30y maybe less from me. Hard to get the correct shot away when they are that near.
    Got a lot of meat from him.

    This is the Buck.

    I wouldn't be the best judge of Fallow heads so couldn't even guess if it would medal or not. Who cares anyway, you don't need a medal to appreciate a stalk on a fine animal like that. You'll remember that one for a long time I'd say :D

    I see what you're saying now about the pictures too

    That looks class, would burrying it in the ground not have been enough to get the flesh off.

    If 'Her indoors' had seen it would be my head as the trophy not the Buck.
    :eek::eek::eek::eek:

    Compost heap would be best if you can't boil the flesh off.

    Great looking animal mate. Head looks the job aswell.
    Someone on this suggested leaving the head tied up in a rock pool and the crabs would strip it clean.

    just ride them off you or feed them sugar to give them toothaches or mix up abit of blue stone and butter does the trick ;-)

    This a great head and nicely displayed. Well done. Don't mind me saying the rain will turn them antlers pure white in a few months as its outside

    I don't mind them going white, It there to remind me of the great stalk I had on that Buck.
