    Hi All

    Currently married since April 2011.

My wife and I are paye and both in full time roles, I think we are taxed separately at the moment.

I don't fully understand the paye system, should we ask them to look at us as 1 couple, would we gain anything?

If so, could we get something back for the last few years?

    Wife 55K Teacher
    Myself 70K-90K depending on year

    Thanks

It's unlikely you'll get anything back.

Based on your incomes, i expect you both fully utilise your tax credits and your cut off points.

If one spouse is on a significantly lower income, sometimes they can benefit by being treated as a married couple and amalgamate their tax credits and cut off points.
