Excel 2013 program has gone "missing" from PC

Opened laptop this morning, went to run Excel 2013 and got the following error message "There was a problem sending the command to the Program". Ran the online fix through the MS website and was prompted that the Excel.exe file does not exist, same goes for my other MS office programs.

I checked the log report of programs which were uninitialised since yesterday and nothing. Curious to know how this would have moved from my laptop since nobody else has had access and I was using Excel yesterday evening?

    Usining Windows 8 btw

Have you tried searching for excel.exe or winword.exe?

Was the version of Office a trial version which has expired?

It's the full professional version. Also ran a search on excel.exe and can see the program but click thru and nothing happens.

    try system restore

If system restore doesn't fix it uninstall and reinstall Office. A reboot between uninstall and reinstall wouldn't go amiss.

I'm not au fait with Office 2013 in particular, but previous versions had a repair setting (as opposed to a full-blown uninstall+reinstall) - that might be faster and would be less destructive (in terms of any customisations you had, templates etc).

Thanks for the replies, I re-ran the ms office .exe file and that resolved the issue.
