I'll be in Lahinch at the end of the month and am wondering if it's worth sticking the clubs in the car for a round there?

I can't afford the real one at €110 for a round!

If the Castle course was anywhere else besides being a hundred yards from one of the best links courses in the world it would be better regarded.

It's not a bad course by any means. It offers good variety and decent greens.

The main downside is that the course is a bit short.

(If you haven't played the Old Course at Lahinch and the weather is decent, treat yourself. It's a magnificent golf course.)

I havnt played there myself but i have however played Dromoland Castle Course and that is an experience in itself , defo worth a round?

I play my Golf in Woodstock which is a nice course and hard enough course only €20 , just another option,

    Best of Luck

id imagine you would get some sort of deal for the main course this time of year.havent played the main course myself but from looking at it there looks to be no comparison between the two courses.castle course is nice but no overally links if thats what your looking for
as has been said already plenty other very good courses around

Open singles on the Old Course every Thursday for €50. I played there last Thursday and got a cracker of a day. It's well worth €50 to be honest. Timesheet opens on Thursdays for the comp the following week. I'll be returning at least once before the new year anway.

I'm there on a Saturday and currently on a career break, so living very meekly! I think I'm the only one in the group going who properly golfs (can play to any handicap), so would probably be playing on my own. Those two things combined I don't think the main course will be an option.

I'm just tempted to play the other course to have another crack at a links after Rosslare absolutely crucified me on my first attempt.

I've actually played (and stayed in) Woodstock as someone mentioned above and really enjoyed the course. I remember 3 holes (around 6-8) that are probably regular heartbreakers! Great par 5 and 3 in them though.

    Thanks all for the advice.

yeah the 7th and 8th can definetly make or break you in Woodstock
Worth giving the castle course a go so.its a nice course to try and improve your liking for a links course again(altho don't expect any major dunes or heavy rough you might associate with links courses
