hi there I am just looking for advice regarding the above car. its a 07 sri cdti 150 bhp. the milage is 96.000 miles and the asking price is 5300.this car is for sale for the last month and the asking price started at 6000. there is also a new nct along with two new tyres on the front of the car.
I know with it being a 07 the high tax is an issue.what is the main problems people have with these cars? it seems to b ok but if I was going to purchase I would get it checked by a mechanic.

150 bhp 1.9 CDTIs can give trouble with head gaskets, water pumps and other bits and pieces, I'd be checking very carefully that it has been serviced on time (which, being a UK car, it should have been).

Definitely get it checked by a mechanic, and bear in mind that being a Vauxhall, it will be worth somewhat less than an Opel when you want to sell it on, so make sure that what you're looking at is not overpriced compared to an Opel badged equivalent.

Personally Id probably prefer a Vauxhall on average over an Opel but that's just my opinion

Important to make sure too that the Timing belts being done on time - and it would be nice if the water pump was done at the same time.

Swirl flaps are another issue on the 150 (the 120 doesn't have them afaik) and some have reported issues with dual mass flywheels - which to be fair is a common diesel car issue these days - but ive read about them going at particularly low mileages on these vectras.

I think though that they aren't as bad a car as all the above makes out though :). Just need to be more careful when buying one compared to something like an Avensis.

Btw - as far as I know - I think its that the swirl flaps get clogged up/blocked rather then actually breaking like they do on some BMW diesels.

I actually don't mind them tbh as cars and the hatchbacks do look nice

DMF's especially. Mine needed replacing after only 60k klms! The swirl valve issue doesn't affect post 07 cars so may or may not be an issue on this one. Its a costly fix (around €800+ ) if it goes wrong so worth investigating. Only other thing is bushings, arb's and track rod ends...all cheap fixes though. Its a fantastic engine and a lovely car in SRI spec. I should have never got rid of mine :(

Yeah to be honest - I do think these Vectras are one of the more underated cars on the market.

Think many of the reliability "issues" on them are hyped up more due to the car being a Vectra.

They definitely aren't as bullet proof as an Avensis or the like - but a good one is a decent enough car all the same - hatchbacks look nice, some leather improves them immensely inside, they ride well - and feel very safe to be sat in.

    All imo obviously

Exactly. Lots of people formed their opinions on the Vectra based on comments by that twat Jeremy Clarkson :D I've had 3 of them and found them a grand motor
