Car Damaged

My sister's car was hit by another car whilst hers was parked outside a shop, She noticed the damage after she has finished work, her side mirror was destroyed and three plastic parts were on the ground next to it, one was completely shattered. She didn't call the guards as it happened before years previous and as no witnesses were present either time, nothing could be done.

She asked if i could fix two of them back with sellotape until she could get to the garage next week. I noticed that one of the Pieces was not from her car, as her car is red and black and this piece was silver/grey.

I have noticed that on this Piece of plastic it states "Renault", and has a whole series of numbers etc.

If she does contact guards, can a car be tracked from these numbers or are they just simply numbers specific to some car part.

    Thanks.

    Most likely part numbers.

Its only going to be a part number. At a guess I'd say its the plastic corner strip off the corner of the bumper.
Stick up the part number and if nothing else you'll have an idea of the model.

Would likely only be specific to the car make / model. It's worth checking with the shop to see if CCTV covers the area.

Bummer for your sis but how does she know the the piece of Renault plastic is from the car that hit hers. It could have been there for a week. CCTV camera footage might be useful if any is available.

Well she parked the car there in her space, and when she came out if was lying next to her door with her pieces.

    Renault 2326.35.103 >ABS< gauche/left

also written on the inside with pen is "Renault Gold"

There's no CCTV in the area.

EDIT: The piece of plastic is intact, and would seem to be the backing piece on a left side mirror.

The fact that it's written in pen suggests it's come from a scrapper and it's not the first time this driver has had one replaced.
