    Hi

I've been looking around for a new Saorview box with series link.

The Walker WP6500TTR looks good but is a bit pricey.

Are there many other Saorview boxes available with series link. Ideally I would like to fit my own USB hard drive which I already have to keep the price down.

It's time to get rid of Sky. Getting too expensive. I already have a satellite box for freesat channels in UK.

    Thanks for any advice

The Walker PVR is the only Saorview approved box with series link.

Some of the FreeviewHD + PVRs may do it but wouldn't be able to advise which ones.

Only boxes with built in HDD and dual tuners are "real" PVRs anyway, anything else is just a recording "feature".

If you can't get UK Freeview (Terrestrial, not Freesat), a Humax Freeview HD + PVR might do it. If you can receive Freeview and Saorview recording features can get confused.

The only assured solution is the Walker PVR.

If series link is a must then there is only one box approved at present. The hard drive of 500GB is quite large and should allow archiving of TV shows etc.

The main downside with the box I have found, during series link, is that if the show starts early or finishes late, the box only records based on the guide, so you miss the start or end of the show. Other boxes, like the Sky box, give the option of starting recordings 10 minutes before the actual start time and keep recording 10 minutes afterwards. This box does not have this option. The only way around is to manually set a timer with a start and stop time, which defeats series link simplicity.

Often shows run late, particularly after football matches etc and then all shows afterwards won't record correctly.

However in general I find this box a great improvement over standard Saorview boxes. It's a long term investment and it's great to not have to be a slave to the TV schedule.

    Hi again,

    Thanks for replies.

It seems that the Walker WP6500TTR is the only approved box with Series link. For me it's too much to pay for this feature.

So I've decided to go with the Triax TR212. No series link but seems to have good reviews and is a much better price. Also I can fit my own USB drive to this box.

    Thanks again for help.
