    Hey All,

    Just a quick question.

I'm waiting on my car tax disc to come through as it expired at the end of september, however in the meantime ill be in Dublin city and will need to park on the street.

My question is, is DCC like local councils where they will fine/clamp you for having an invalid tax disc displayed?

    Not in my experience

A traffic warden can still issue a fine for non displaying of a current tax disc. Better off using a car park.

Why not print off the number that you got when taxing it online it shows you have taxed the car.

motortax.ie gives you the option to print the page when your payment has cleared.

    Not a bad idea

You can print it off, but if you park in a public place, a traffic warden can still issue a fine for non-display of tax disc. I'd chance it and likewise it would be a good idea to print the receipt page. Chances are if a traffic warden does come past your car, if they see it's been paid, they might just leave you off.

Ideally you won't get spotted at all and it will only take a couple of days for the tax disc to come through.

At the end of the day, if they are going to do you for non display of a valid tax disc , they'll do you for exactly that!! ... a printed page with some receipt number won't change that.

    Realistically your 2 options are:

    - Chance it and take it on the chin if you are fined (odds are in your favour id say)

    - park in a private multi storey car park where DCC or wardens wont visit.

    Simple

Use to be in trade and maybe I was just lucky but went through a lot of checkpoints and parked all over the place in cars, vans with no tax or insurance displayed.

Traffic wardens and garda will ticket a parked car for none display of current tax disc.

If stopped a check point garda can use their discression.

Use a private car park and avoid the on street parking. In the busy areas of the city traffic wardens are very active.

The payment receipt from motortax.ie would be of use if stopped by a Guard.
