i have windows 7 and a sandstrom s8m113 wireless mouse. with my old mouse when i clicked down on the scroll wheel to click a link it would open it in a new tab, if i clicked it down while clicking on a tab (in chrome for example) it would close that tab.

this mouse isnt doing this. im missing some stupid option here along the way but i cant find it.

i have the same issue in internet explorer as i do in chrome.

ive not installed any drivers or software for it as none came with it. i simply plugged in the dongle and the mouse started working.

    any suggestions?

    thanks

i had a logitech wireless mouse/keyboard before and it turns out logitech setpoint was causing issues. uninstalled and problem fixed. .. .for anyone else who has a similiar issue!

This may be a red herring, but I have a Logitech M705 mouse, and the scroll wheel can be moved in 3 different ways, rotated as a wheel, pressed down vertically, but also (and this is the important bit) moved left or right. You can assign any action you like to these modes, but the default for the left-right movement is left or right scroll.

Now, on my mouse at least, it's almost impossible to get the vertical press right every time. 9 times out of 10 it actually registers a left or right movement, i.e left or right scroll, which in most cases actually achieves nothing, and you therefore think nothing has happened.

The solution is to go into Logitech's SetPoint utility and assign the Middle Button 'task' to both the left and right movements of the scroll wheel.

I know that, but it wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility that there's something similar going on here as well if the scroll wheel works in a similar fashion.

you could also have to wrestle with the fact that the mouse is defective or of poor workmanship. I've never even heard of Sandtrom. Whereas a logitech mouse would play very nicely with setpoint, though in saying that I have a mixture of Logitech and Razer products on my desk and they coexist peacefully. I've never encountered an issue where setpoint interfered with third party hardware.

i think the best option really is to bring it back and see what the replacement is like anyway.

    thanks
