    That PSU is fine, I'm running an FX8350 & GTX 660 on a 600w.

Might want to add a GPU to the build, won't be able to run many games well without one

thanks i was a bit concerned i will also look for a GPU

My build is the exact same, pretty much. I was told 500w is perfect unless plans to crossfire or sli.

so would this affect your decision?

The be quiet 7 700 w "silver" is the same price as the 600 w bronze you have picked?

Is there any particular reason you choose this particular model?

Also on hardwareversand.de the xfx DD edition 7870 is same price as that possibly generic 7870 you are choosing.

There is no reason that i choose that PSU but I have chamged my mind again to this one : http://www.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=74423&agid=1630
I think it is better for the value and overall. Also im not sure what the difference between the bronze and silver. It must be something about quailty im guessing.

PSU is total overkill - unless you plan sli/crossfire - something like this is perfectly fine for single cards. Something is only better value if you can make use of it. Your setup wouldn't even hit 400w. If you really wanted a little more headroom, there's this. :)

Personally I think both power supply's you listed were fine. I would usually go for the known brand power supplies, I've never heard of this "Super Flower". They may be good, but how good can they be for that price?

Don't worry i did some reasearch on it and it has good reviews it is aslo the second top seller in its range on the site

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭SterlingArcher

You guessed it. Silver is higher quality than bronze ,but bronze is good quality too.

What's wrong with the 500 w you already have? Does it have the pins necessary for your new card?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 Henmistro

Well i was gonna get a 530W but i know someone who builds computers and he said that if im gonna upgrade in the future i need more cause psu's last the longest

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭SterlingArcher

I'll try give you a better understanding.

Your card (7870)would consume about 125 w , motherboard and CPU other parts around 200 w. So you will have plenty in the 500w. Having 530 would make little or no difference.

If your current 500 w has the power cables needed for your graphics card you can use it.

The reason your friend advised a better PSU , would be probably in case you planned to add a second graphics card and overclock in the future. Basically so you could keep your upgrade options open. A decent PSU is a good investment. But if your on a budget use the one you have.

What is the brand of 500 w PSU you have now, or model number.

Yea i do plan to do some upgrading in the future so maybe thats why he said to upgrade and also it was only an extra €10 or around there

Cool well get the bigger PSU so.

The be quiet 7 700 w is a good PSU. Has quality components and is quiet ,silver rating and priced well at 76 euro. It will well cover future upgrades.

You have your parts in mind. My advice to you would be ask bloodbath to do you up a pc for your budget and see what parts he uses. And compare them with yours.

K thanks nd most of my parts are from a list he gave me and im just about to order so thanks for your advice :)

A 500w would be more than enough for that build.

If you're going to spend extra money you would be better off putting it into the case or graphics card.

I know but ive already so ne all the reasearch and i really dont want to do more. Well im finished with this thread now but thanks to everyone for the advice. :)

You don't have to do any research. Just get the super flower 450 or 550w psu linked earlier in the thread. Unless you plan running dual cards or an absolute 600E monster of a single card, you won't need more than that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭SterlingArcher

Already explained the smaller PSU is enough terror, he said he might add another card. So guess that what he doing.

Personally I'd use his current PSU and go with bloodbaths advice of putting the money elsewhere. But that's his call and a good PSU is not the worst investment.

Best of luck with your build.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,299 ✭✭✭✭BloodBath

Well that board doesn't support 8-8 crossfire/sli so dual card's isn't really an option unless he doesn't mind losing some performance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41 Henmistro

Thanks and i already ordered it. I am happy with my list though but maybe this annoyed a few people that I didn't go through with there advice. I do know that it probably is best to invest more into something more important like the motherboard or graphics card but Im trying to think ahead. Since I will most likely upgrade my motherboard in a few years but not the PSU, that will most likely stay there until it is of no use anymore.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,299 ✭✭✭✭BloodBath

No harm. Psu's last a long time anyway so the extra capacity might come in useful in a future build.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭SterlingArcher

Haha nobody's annoyed, its your build at the end of the day. As long as you understand what blood said about your motherboard not being optimized for 2 graphics cards. So adding one later won't get the maximum potential.

    yeah I know :)
