Out for 4hrs this am with the springer, lovley morning, put up some lovley cocks, been through ditch, bog, and muck, was going to bring him for a swim for his pm outing, how often should you actually wash a springer with shampoo? my concern is damaging his real coat with anything comming into the winter.
    Comments pls, ?

A swim in clean water should look after most dirt in the coat. I'm not a great fan of shampoo for dogs unless it's needed to treat some condition or other. If the dog really needs a good clean up luke warm running water and a good rub down does the trick.

Was told by my vet that the best wash a dog can get is in bog water. Something about what it does for the skin and gets rid of any insects (fleas, tics)
