faulty thermostat?

Ive a Creda Europa S150E double oven and the main oven has started acting up.
If set at 180 it seems to work fine at first then the orange temp light goes off, if i turn the oven up the orange light doesnt come back on to say its under temperature.
I dont have a thermometer to check it but i think the oven heats to full capacity and doesnt stop at the temp its set to.
Is this just a case of buying a new thermostat or could it be something else wrong with the oven? I changed the element last year and if i needed a thermostat and it was just as easy id do it myself.
    Any ideas appreciated.
    Thanks.

you need to know at what true temp it is cutting out at which ideally needs a thermometer, if you haven't got one set the oven temp at 150c, the indicator light should go out in 11 minutes, if it is + or - minutes it is approx. 15 degrees per minute out so lets say it takes 13 min to cut out it is then 30c too hot. The stat may also be lazy cutting in, with door open it should be cutting it within about 2 min. max, otherwise a new stat especially if you bake a lot.
