Mechanism for closing extract vent

Im looking for a mechanism to close off the extract fan pipe when its not being used. The reason for this is that I have an airtight house but I dont like the recirculation hoods with charcoal filters. There will be a 100mm pipe through the wall to the outside. Hopefill it could be electricity operated as I have a switch on the wall next to the hood for it.
Does anyone know what exactly I should be looking for? And where I could get one.

I've seen bathroom extractor fans with a built in iris that automatically open and close when the fan is powered up/down. This the kind of thing you're looking for?

I looked into this - check out "motorised Dampers" on google - one of the HRV/Ventalation vendors should be able to supply.

I concluded (rightly or wrongly) that we rarely use the extractor as we do not fry much - a good recirc with a decent grease filter would do most of what I needed.

The motorised damper seem to me just one more thing to go wrong etc

I'd agree. Suppose each to their own but most of my cooking generates stream and not grease cos I rarely fry and I don't intend wasting that good heat by throwing it outside.
