Is it worth getting an AMD R9 graphics card using 'Mantle'

    Hi,

Im in the market for a new graphics card. AMD have produced their R series cards which will use the new 'mantle' technology.

Do we know if mantle will be a broadly used platform for games developers?
Will mantle be all its cracked up to be or do we have to wait and see?
Battlefield 4 will be the first to use it (software update due in December), and BF4 is the reason Im upgrading anyway so maybe I should get one.

    Just would like some direction/opinions.

Mantle will work with all amd gpus. So r9 is not really needed.

I had it in my head that it was a hardware and software change. Might pick up a good 3gb 7950 or similar if that's the case. Good value to be had these days

Mantle works only on amd 7000 series and up on their gcn architecture..

It does NOT work for all amd cards.....

Most of the new amd cards are rehashes of their current line up. Only the r9 290x is new.
Time will tell if mantle is any good. Sounds promising.
