That's info from dublin bus website
    Rambler 1 Day Adult €6.90

Valid for unlimited travel for 1 day
Valid on Dublin Bus scheduled services including Airlink and Xpresso (excluding Nitelink, Tours, Special Events and Private Contract services)
    No CIE photo ID required

So if I buy a ticket at 3pm on Wednesday, is it valid till the end of the day (i.e. midnight) or for 24h (i.e. 3pm Thursday)?

Only valid till the buses stop running that day i'm afraid.

Its for the day of first use, not purchase.

Its for the day of first use, not purchase.

    That's OK.
But is it for 24h from first use, or till midnight on the day of first use?

Midnight on the day of first use.

Technicality, but it's valid for buses that have begun their journey before midnight on that day. You might get on an 11.30pm bus halfway through its route at 12.15 and the ticket will (afaik) be good.

It is valid from the first to last bus (excluding Nitelinks) on the day you validate it, irrespective if the last bus departs after midnight or continues operating after midnight during its journey. The last 65 inbound would be an example of a bus that departs after midnight - the ticket is still valid for that bus.

That's as straightforward as it can be put.

Wow 6.90, what a rip off. Airport buses aside it is hard to see how anyone would save money by buying a Rambler, seems to me the only people who would save are those taking 4 or more journeys per day.
DB really need to start looking at their pricing structures IMO.

That's generally who it's aimed towards.

Really they should make the ticket a 24hr one if you ask me.

It's probably not going to matter to much whenever capping comes in. The single rambler ticket will become obsolete then as a leap product.
