Three-year-olds have a great record in staying races at this stage of the season and, as they have won the last three runnings of the Tote Super Trifecta Irish Cesarewitch, surely the first port of call is with the younger brigade.
Weather Watch is the shortest in the market after his eye-catching effort from the rear at Leopardstown last month, but I like the look
of Time For Action, who showed himself to be a stayer with a future when winning in good style at Tipperary last time out.
He appeared to be in trouble turning into the straight that day, but in the blink of an eye he was in front and soon clear before he idled throughout the final furlong. On that evidence there can be little doubt he will appreciate the step up to two miles and the performance represents a really strong line of form – he had recent winners trained by Jessica Harrington, Aidan O’Brien, Dermot Weld, Ger Lyons and John Oxx well behind at Tipperary and after the race trainer David Wachman was effusive in his praise for Time For Action, suggesting he had been confident the horse would win.
This race is more competitive and he will need to hit the gaps when they appear, but I would be surprised if Time For Action doesn’t prove to be a lot better than his handicap mark and any double-figure prices are well worth taking.
Weather Watch is definitely a danger as he was almost last turning for home at Leopardstown and ran on strongly up the outside to finish fourth. I don’t think that was as good a race as today’s, but Weather Watch is progressing and will run well.
In any 30-runner handicap it is worth having more than one string to your bow and the British challenger Montefeltro should also be backed.
His trainer Brian Ellison is having a tremendous season and Montefeltro has looked a horse to follow on his last two outings, winning a fairly weak race easily at York and then following up with a equally comfortable victory at Yarmouth. He’s up 10lb but he’s only had five runs on the Flat and I can’t imagine a rating of 89 is anywhere near the limit of his powers.
The Ladbrokes Munster National can go to Spring Heeled for Jim Culloty, who has targeted these early-season Nationals with this horse.
The fact that Spring Heeled was balloted out of the Kerry version a few weeks ago could be a blessing in disguise because the ground has come right now and he’s fresh compared with a few who ran at Listowel.
Spring Heeled has a win over hurdles at this track to his name and I think he’s going to improve a good deal for the step up to three miles. Two starts ago he jumped well when winning a decent race at Killarney and last time on ground much too soft he was far from disgraced behind Hidden Cyclone. Culloty has booked Barry Geraghty and, with improvement extremely likely, Spring Heeled has a great chance.
The danger may well come from the disappointing Kerry National favourite Wise Oscar, who made a bad mistake at a crucial time that day. He stays well and will appreciate the better ground, so expect him to leave that form well behind.

    Advice

    Time For Action
    4.40 Curragh
    1pt win at 14-1 generally

    Montefeltro
    4.40 Curragh
    1pt win at 12-1 generally

    Spring Heeled
    4.50 Limerick
1pt win at 9-1 with Ladbrokes (8-1 generally)

I've a sneaking suspicion for whodoyouthink at a big price. Would have played a hand in the Kerry National last year but for falling. Today will actually be his first run in a handicap chase since that fall and off 4 pounds lower.
Given a break after Aintree before a comeback spin over hurdles, looks like that crafty codger Mckiernan has been aiming him at this. Visor goes on for the first time and if he gets jumping well early then he could take pegging back on ground he likes.

Some lovely types in the first race in the Curragh,I was hoping Bush Pilot would run in Galway after his eye catching run looks weak on the exchanges tonight interesting to see if hes backed wasnt off a yard first time up,

Interesting O Brien has a two year old running in the colours of timmy hyde by Sea the stars,Is this the first of STS crop Aidan has run? Joseph rides a Montjeu derby entrant,

John oxx has 3 in it one them Aga Khan related to Mourad of Mullins fame, the other is very interesting belonging to the TSUI family by STS,only the 2nd of his after My Tatiana to run so might be smart but I expect these need time and experience maybe?

Chicago girl has temperment issues so Id avoid her in the fillies listed dazzling to bounce back there,

I fancy Leitir Mor in the Sprint with Cristiforo Colombo likely fav the bolger horse should be 7/1 an worth a bet,

Hikari of Brian Gleesons in the 4.05 could be anything dotted up in Wexford, this is a very weak listed race so shes maybe the one to be on side with,

At Limerick I fancy THUNDER AND ROSES in the novice hurdle still a maiden but this is weak enough here may need the run though.

One word of warning. OMK hasn't had a winner in over 220 days. I'd be very surprised if he has a big winner to break that duck. Saying that whenever the virus in his yard (I assume there's a virus) has left I could all his horses stringing wins in. All of them have been running to about 20lbs less than his ability

Good information got on Roadtoabbeyfeale this morning for the last at Limerick today, never put into the action in his last hurdle race. First time over fences today. Last win was this day last year on the same track when punted into favoritism in a hdcp hurdle.

Anyone else think Love on Top is a serious each way bet in the third at Limerick 4/1.

She was beaten only four lengths in a bumper by Que Pasa in a bumper at Cork last year (won three hurdle races, beat Indevan who is favourite for a grade 3 today) and was second in a grade 3 last time out.

She won a bumper at Ballinrobe in May in what looks decent form, second was runner up next time out in a bumper, Some Officer was in third who won a bumper and a maiden hurdle since including beating King Shabra who won by half the track at Fairyhouse yesterday. Was beaten only four lengths first start over hurdles by a horse rated in the high teens, the second won next time out, horse in fourth was runner up to Diplomat next time out and then won a maiden hurdle. Only worry is she disappointed last time out in a bumper, but this looks a weak hurdle and I'd be disappointed if she was out of the first three, don't think the Mullins yoke is top of the pile down there, won a bumper in Sligo on debut, she won over 2 and a quarter miles on a stiff track at Sligo on heavy ground, this 2 miles on good ground could see her tapped for toe.

Anyone see any reason why I shouldn't back her

Mullins yoke is at least a point shorter if not more because of the trainer/jock combination and guaranteed to draw in money. The only worry is that some behind have a bit more hurdling experience although none of it was very impressive.

Very taking preformance! Obviously the second is very highly thought off aswell and Century won easily.

I was disappointed when Century wasn't declared for THAT maiden at Navan last Wednesday as O'Brien usually unleashes a serious 2yo there but my God that was impressive today.

Wonder if Century has an RP Trophy entry

He doesn't might be a Criterium horse

Magician won that maiden last year.

Was told last night that Marakoush is one of Oxx's best 2yo's. Punted like defeat was out of the question and Century still beat him. Think the front two in that maiden are going to be horses to follow.

One loosing bet so far, quite a bad one actually, but time to fight back here @ Limerick.

False fav here due to connections. Lots Of Memories more than good enough to do him here :)

Thought she had a big chance at Dundalk when I backed her, it looked like that jockey couldn't ride a prostitute never mind a horse that's why I'm not on today he gave her a shocker.

All in on this filly each way at Limerick

Think i'll have speculative punt on Century for the Derby. 33/1 with Boyles. Really impressed today. Worth a few bob each way anyway.
O'Brien often unleashes his Derby hopes late in the season.

A few place returns destroyed by this donkey.
