i can't think it would be any problem once you weren't misrepresenting yourself....I'd cover up the Ambulance Signs myself, or make them removable

There's an ambulance I see around Dublin 9 area sometimes thats just had the lights removed and signs painted over in black. Not very pretty but if that's what works it works. I don't think you can drive around with the signs still up.

There are a few knocking about converted to camper vans. They have to have a full strip out of any ambulance equipment, including sirens, lights etc. not sure why you would want to though, an ambulance gets a tough life..

No but you would have to pay VRT which can be expensive, ambulance depending.

    No.

Go ahead and buy the ambulance though. I was really close once to buy a hearse, herself would have none of it though so it didn't happen *whipped :o*
You'll have to respray it so the marking are gone/peel them off.

As far as I know at this stage it'd just be a regular personal car, therefore regular tax would apply.

Don't get cheap tax just because you slapped a few 'Ambulance' stickers on the car I'm afraid.

Cheap tax only applies to cars actually used as ambulances.

I presume you mean VRT (rather than VET). The VRT exclusion only applies if the vehicle is to be used as an Ambulance in this Country, rather than used as one in the Country it came from.
To use, and Tax, the vehicle here you would have to use it exclusively as a 'private ambulance'.
This involves a little bit more than just declaring to the VRT office that you wish to use it for this purpose.
In other words, you would pay the VRT as though it were a private car (by the sounds of it you are talking about an Estate Car).
