Does anyone know what is the story behind the "upgrading" of the surface on the Howth Road ? They are tarring between Harry Byrnes and Killester Church at the moment. How much more will they tar ? My own personal query is....Once the re-surfacing and road marking is complete, will the driller killers be out to dig lumps out of the new surface to "fix" the manholes ? My euros say yes. If so can we be guaranteed that the road surface will be left as they found it (ie with no 9 inch ravines or bumps) ? Over to you.
Question 2. Why cant concrete be used on our fair city roads ?

Is this happening over the weekend?

Like any road, concrete roads settle, but instead of doing a small patch, you now have to do a large patch, as the whole panel will have shifted. Digging up concrete is much more expensive than digging up asphalt.

Asphalt reaches full strength within hours, concrete takes days.
